Marco Carrasco is an economist with expertise in international development, Asian studies, and behavioral economics. He holds a Master’s in Public Administration in International Development from Harvard University and a research Master’s in Economics and Management, with a concentration in Economics and Psychology, from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he graduated with the highest distinction. His advanced academic and professional training includes a Certificate of Achievement in the Rising Public Leaders Programme from the University of Oxford, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Public Governance from ETH Zurich, and an extension diploma in Chinese Studies from the University of Chile. He has participated in intensive international programs in China and India, and holds a professional title and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the National University of San Marcos.
At the international level, Marco has worked for various entities such as the Organization of American States in Washington, DC, the International Labour Organization, and UNICEF, as well as international consulting companies in the U.S. and Asia. At the local level, he has worked both in government and academia, serving in institutions such as the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion, the Ministry of Housing, the Ministry of Labor and Promotion of Employment, and the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, where he served as Director of Monitoring and Evaluation of Policies, as well as at the National University of San Marcos, the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences, and the University of the Pacific.
He has been a delegate and speaker at events such as the HPAIR conference at Harvard University, the Yenching global symposium at Peking University, two TEDx conferences, and several local and international events related to international development, behavioral economics, and Chinese studies. He was one of the global winners of the 2020 NASA International Space Apps Challenge, the Local Lead of the NASA Space Apps Challenge in Lima, Peru since 2021, and was selected as a Young Scholar to participate in the 2022 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Economic Sciences, in Germany. He regularly writes and gives interviews for various local and international media.
